This is a well known Hindu God Ganesha's sculpture from Java Indonesia. Its unique in the sense that unlike the usual Ganesha sculptures that hold Mothakam in one hand, this sculpture shows Ganesha holding skull on both hands and stands on pedestal surrounded by skulls. The representation of skulls together with Ganesha may be inspired by Tantric philosophical tradition. Its a 13th century sculpture. At present it is placed in the Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden Netherlands.
13ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்த விநாயகர் சிற்பம் இது. இந்தோனீசியாவின் ஜாவா தீவிலிருந்து கொண்டுவரப்பட்டு நெதர்லாந்தின் மானுடவியல் அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் ஆசிய சேகரிப்புக்கள் பகுதியில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மிக வித்தியாசமாக இந்த விநாயகர் சிற்பத்தில் வழக்கமாக விநாயகர் உருவச் சிலையில் இருக்கும் மோதகத்திற்கு பதிலாக இரண்டு கைகளிலுமே மனித மண்டை ஓடுகள் இருக்கின்றன. விநாயகர் உருவம் மனித மண்டை ஓடுகளால் சூழப்பட்ட பீடத்தில் அமர்ந்திருப்பது போல இச்சிற்பம் வடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இது தாந்திரிக தத்துவத்தின் தாக்கம் இந்தோனீசியாவில் எழுந்த சமயம் அத்தத்துவம் உள்வாங்கப்பட்டு ஏற்கனவே இருந்த இந்து சமய தெய்வ வடிவம் புதிய பரிணாமம் பெற்று மாற்றம் காண்பதாக அமைந்திருக்கின்றது.
