22. Buddha - Thailand

This is a peculiar form of Buddha which I noticed in several spiritual centers in Thailand. This particular statue can be found at Wat Benjamaphopit, a temple built in 1900 by the King Rama V in 1900.  This statue of Buddha, seated cross-legged in the attitude subduing himself by fasting. This style which resembles Greek style of Gandhara sculptures was originally kept in the Museum of Lahore Pakistan. 

இங்கே காணப்படும் புத்தரின் வடிவம் தாய்லாந்தில் ஒரு சில இடங்களில் காணக்கிடைக்கின்றது. இந்தக் குறிப்பிட்ட சிலை, உடலில் உள்ள சதைகள் வற்றி எலும்பும் தோலுமாக காட்சியளிக்கும் புத்தரைக் காட்டுவதாக அமைந்துள்ளது. இந்தச் சிலை தாய்லாந்து நகரின் மையப்பகுதில் உள்ள வாட் பெஞ்சாமாபோபிட் பௌத்த விகாரையில் வெளிச்சுற்று மண்டபத்தில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. பாக்கிஸ்தானின் லாஹோர் அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் முன்னர் இருந்ததாக அறியப்படும் இந்தச் சிற்பம் பண்டைய கிரேக்க தாக்கம் கொண்ட காந்தாரா பகுதியில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.
