10. Kubera - Java, Indonesia

This is a British Museum collection. A 9th century AD Kubera statue found in Java, Indonesia. Kubera is the lord of wealth as known in Hindu mythology.  He is also known as guardian of the North. The ornaments  are light and elegant and Kubera is carved in sitting posture.  This beautiful bronze statue was originally collected by Rev.Flint, the Executor of Lady Raffles. 

இது பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தின் ஆசிய கலைப்பொருட்கள் சேகரிப்பு அமைந்துள பகுதியில் இருக்கும் சிற்பம். வெங்கலத்தினால் ஆன குபேரனின் கிபி 9ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்த சிலை. இந்து மத நம்பிக்கையில் குபேரன் செல்வங்களுக்கு அதிபதியாகக் குறிக்கப்படுவர். அவர் தென் திசைக்கும் அதிபதி. இந்தச் சிற்பம் இந்தோனீசியாவின் ஜாவா தீவிலிருந்து கொண்டுவரப்பட்டது. இது ரெவரண்ட் ஃப்லிண்ட் அவர்களின் சேகரிப்பிலிருந்து பின்னர் பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட கலைப்பொருள். இக்குபேரன் சிற்பத்தின் மேல் இருக்கும் ஆபரணங்கள் கலைநயத்துடன் செதுக்கப்பட்டிருப்பதை இச்சிலையில் காணலாம்.

9. Buddha of Ghandhara

This four sided block piece, a limestone relief, depicts four significant scenes in the life of Buddha. One side showing his birth, the next showing enlightenment, the third showing the first sermon (above in this picture) seated above the wheel of Law, The Dharma Chakra, and the fourth side showing the visit of Brahma and Indra. This wonderful artwork was found in Ghandara, belongs to the 2nd-3rd Century AD. This British Museum collection is placed in the Department of Asia. 

நான்கு பகுதிகளைக் கொண்ட அமைப்பில் புத்தரின் வாழ்வில் நிகழ்ந்த நான்கு வரலாற்று விஷயங்களை விளக்கும்  வகையில் இந்தச் சிற்பம் அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. முதல் பாகம் புத்தரின் பிறப்பு, இரண்டாம் பகுதி ஞானம் பெறுதலைக் காட்டும் காட்சி, மூன்றாம் பகுதியில் முதல் உபதேசம் வழங்குவதையும் அது போது தர்மசக்காத்தில் அமர்ந்தவாறு தமது போதனைகளை வழங்குவதாகாவும் உள்ள அமைப்பு உள்ளது இதனையே இங்கு காண்கின்றோம். நான்காவது பகுதி பிரம்மனும் இந்திரனும் புத்தரைக் காண வருவது போன்ற அமைப்பு.

இது காந்தாரையில் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட அருங்கலைச் சிற்பம். இதன் காலம் கி.பி. 2 லிருந்து 3 எனக் கணக்கிடப்படுகின்றது.

8. Dhyani Buddha Amitabha

This is a bronze statue of 9th Cent AD. A Dhyani Buddha Amitabha from Bangladesh found in the Central Java, Indonesia. This rare peace is a personal collection of Rev Fünt donated to the British Museum. The form Amitabha is the fourth of the Dhyani Buddhas of the directions and represents the western part of India. Eastern Indian bronze images taken to Indonesia became the inspiration for a school of Buddhist sculpture which began in Central Java, particularly 7th , 8th and 9th Cent AD.

இந்த 9ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்த வெங்கலக் கலைப்படைப்பு இந்தோனீசியாவின் தீவுகளில் ஒன்றான ஜாவா தீவிலிருந்து சேகரிக்கப்பட்டது.  வங்காளதேசத்தில் செய்யப்பட்டதாக அறியப்படும் இந்தச் சிலை மத்திய ஜாவாவில் கிடைத்தது.  இது ரெவரண்ட் ஃபண்ட் அவர்கள் சேகரிப்பில் இருந்து பின்னர் பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது. தற்சமயம் இது பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தின் ஆசிய அரும்பொருள் சேகரிப்பு பகுதியில் இருக்கின்றது.

தாமரை மலர்மேல் அமர்ந்த நிலையில்   தியான நிலையில் இருக்கும் இவ்வடிவம் அமிதாபா என அழைக்கப்படுகின்றது.

7. Ganesha - Cambodia

This is a 6th Cent (575 - 625 AD), Victoria and Albert Museum (London, England) collection. This master piece is given to the museum by David Knight from his private collections. This sandstone made Ganesha statue was originally found in Cambodia. This standing Ganesha holding a broken tusk in one hand and another hand holding a bowl.  

கம்போடியாவில் கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட விநாயகர் சிலை இது. காலம் கிபி 6ம் நூற்றாண்டு (575 - 625 AD),  டேவிட் நைட் என்பவரால் லண்டன் விக்ட்டோரியா அண்ட் ஆல்பர்ட் அருங்காட்சியகத்துக்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட ஒரு வித்தியாசமான ஒரு சிலை. எந்த ஆபரணங்களும் இன்றி  ஒரு கையில் உடைந்த தந்தமும் மறு கையில் ஒரு பாத்திரமும் கொண்டு நிற்கும் நிலையில் அமைந்துள்ளதைக் காணலாம்.

6. Anantasayanam - Bronze art piece

A British Museum Collection originally found in Kerala, South India, dates back to Chera Period, 12-13th Century AD. It's a Bronze temple oil lamp, decorated with Vishnu and the Serpent Adhishesha and Brahma - 'Anantasayanam'.

பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தின் மேலும் ஒரு சேகரிப்பு. கேரளாவின் சேரர் கால 12-13ம் நூற்றாண்டு எண்ணெய் விளக்கு. அனந்த சயனத்தில் விஷ்ணு. பிரம்மா, ஆதீஷேசன் உட்பட.

5. Indus Civilization Seals

பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் இருக்கும் சிந்து சமவெளியில் அகழ்வாராய்ச்சியின் போது கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்ட சின்னங்கள். இவை மிருகங்களின் உருவங்களும் குறியீட்டு வடிவிலான எழுத்துக்கலையும் கொண்டிருப்பதைக் காணலாம். இவை பழந்தமிழ் என ஆய்வாளர்கள் சிலரால் அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டும் தொடர் ஆய்வுகள் நடந்து வருவதை பலர் அறிவோம். 

இந்த சின்னங்கள் பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் பொதுமக்கள் பார்வைக்கு காட்சிக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன.

குறிப்பு: நமது த.ம.அ மின்னூலகத்தில் சிந்து வெளி எழுத்தின் திறவு என்ற முனைவர் இரா.மதிவாணனின் நூல் இருக்கின்றது. இதனை விரும்புவோர் தரவிறக்கி வாசிக்கலாம். 

A British Museum collection. This image shows Indus Civilization Seals. These Seals were produced in great numbers in the Indus civilization. The Seals decorated with animals and short symbols(inscriptions). The script closely matching those of linguistic systems like the Sumerian, and Old Tamil.

4. Khmer period Hindu god Shiva

​

This is a Victoria & Albert Museum Collection.  A Bronze statue of A Khmer period Hindu god Shiva found in Cambodia. It dates back 900-950 AD. In the Hinduism practiced in the early Cambodian empire the cult of the Hindu god Shiva was supreme and recognizable form, the trident he carries and the crescent moon in his hair. 

இந்தச் சிவபெருமான் வெங்கலச் சிலை விக்டோரியா & ஆல்பர்ட் அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் ஆசிய கலைப்பொருட்கள் பகுதியில் இருப்பது.  கம்போடியாவில் கைமர் ஆட்சியின் போது அமைக்கப்பட்ட சிலை. கி.பி 900-950 என்பது இதன் காலமாக அறியப்படுகின்றது. கையில் சூலம் ஏந்தியவாறு இருப்பதும் முடியில் பிறை சந்திரன் சூடியிருப்பதும் இச்சிலை சிவபெருமான் சிலை என்பதைக் காட்டுவதாக அமைகின்றது.

சிவபெருமான் வடிவம், அதிலும் குறிப்பாக முகம் கம்போடிய தேசத்தில் வடிக்கப்படும் போது அந்த தேசத்து மக்களின் முகத்தை ஒத்திருப்பதை பாருங்கள்!!

3. East Java, Indonesia - Lord Krishna with Sathyabama

This  altar piece made of volcanic stone is a Victoria & Albert Museum (London, England) Collection.  This art piece was found in the East Java island of Indonesia.  The relief resembles altars on mountain shrines in Java. It depicts Lord Krishna, accompanied by Satyabama, acquiring  the Parijatha tree, which is a magic wish-fulfilling tree. Interestingly, this legend from a popular Javanese court poem was preserved in later periods through performances of the 'wayang purwa' commonly called as shadow puppet show.

லண்டன் விக்டோரியா & ஆல்பர்ட் அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் ஆசிய கலைப்பொருட்கள் பகுதியில் இருக்கும் இந்தச் சிற்பம் இந்தோனீசியாவின் கிழக்கு ஜாவா தீவில் கிடைத்த, 1425ம் ஆண்டில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டதாக அறியபப்டும் கலைச்சிற்பம். கிருஷ்ணன் சத்தியாபாமாவுடன் நிற்பது போல உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. மந்திரசக்திகள் நிறைந்த, கேட்டதைக் கொடுக்கும் பாரிஜாதமரத்தைப் பெருவது போல இக்காட்சி அமைந்திருக்கின்றது.  இந்த சிற்பத்தில் இருக்கும் காட்சி இந்தோனீசிய தோல் பொம்மை நிழலாட்டத்தில் குறிப்பிடப்படும் ஒரு புராணக்கதையை வெளிப்படுத்தும் வகையில் உருவாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கின்றது.

2. Tamil Nadu, Chola architecture - Vishnu

இது தமிழகத்தின், அதிலும் குறிப்பாக சோழர் காலத்து சிற்பம். அமர்ந்த நிலையில் இருக்கும் இந்த பெருமாள் (விஷ்ணு) சிலை 10ம் நூற்றாண்டு சிறபம் என்ற குறிப்புடன் காணபப்டுகின்றது.

பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் ஆசிய நாடுகள் சேகரத்தில் இருக்கும் ஒரு கலைப்படைப்பு இது.

1. Orissa - Chamunda

நேற்று பிரித்தானிய அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் 5 மணி நேரங்களை செலவிட்டேன். முன்னர் 2 முறை சென்றிருந்தாலும் நீண்ட இடைவெளி ஆகி விட்டதால் மீண்டும் சென்று பார்த்து வரும் ஆவலில்  சென்ற எனக்கு ஒவ்வொரு பகுதியும் என் தேடுதலுக்கு விருந்தாகவே அமைந்தன.

அவ்வப்போது சில அறிய சேகரிப்புக்களின் படங்களை இங்கே ஒவ்வொன்றாகப்  பதிகிறேன்.

இங்கே படத்தில் காண்பது ஒரிசாவிலிருந்து கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட சாமுண்டா வடிவம். 9ம் நூற்றாண்டைச் சேர்ந்தது இந்தச் சிற்பம்.
